Permit Us To Introduce Ourselves...
Who Are We?
In this day and time one never knows what he or she will find when visiting a house of worship. It can be very unsettling to enter a strange building among unfamiliar people whose worship you may not understand. This page of our website will hopefully acquaint you with the beliefs and practices of the Appleton church of Christ so that, should you choose to be our guest, you will have an idea of what to expect.
What Kind Of People Are We?
The members of the congregation are ordinary people, but with widely varied backgrounds. We are both blue and white collar workers. We are both stay-at-home moms and women in the workplace. We are college students, younger aged children, elderly people and younger families, some with and some without children. We are of multiple races and socio-economic backgrounds.
Through this diversity runs a common thread which binds us together: the Christians here are of one faith and love one another, concerned with helping each other get to heaven. We are not perfect by any means, but we are trying to grow spiritually and be more of what God wants us to be.
What is Our Assembly Like?
Our worship of God is not designed to be flashy entertainment. Rather, it is a reverent and dignified offering of the heart in accordance with biblical guidelines. We sing without the aid of musical instruments because the New Testament specifies this kind of music (Ephesians 5:19). The Lord's Supper is observed every Sunday according to the practice of early Christians (Acts 20:7). Prayers are offered by the congregation (Acts 12:5). A contribution is made by the members of the church every Sunday (1 Corinthians 16:1-2), but we do not solicit funds from those outside the church. We also have exhortations from the Scriptures at each service designed to give Bible instruction and to help make meaningful applications to daily life (Acts 2:42). Children are welcome in our assembly. We believe it is important for them to see adults worship God.
Our View of the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God; revealed directly from heaven to the writers and preserved intact through the centuries (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We believe the Bible does not offer mere suggestions, nor is it outdated and irrelevant to the needs of modern society, but is timeless and applicable to all men.
Our Standing Offer
This church exists to serve the spiritual needs of all those who are searching for answers to the questions that really matter: "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" What will happen after I die?" We don't have all the answers for troubling and difficult things that happen in life, but we believe that the Bible explains everything we need to know to get to heaven.
We will be happy to talk to you, study with you from the Bible or assist you in any way as you seek to learn more about God and bring your life into harmony with His will. Please don't hesitate to call on us or visit with us.
